Twitter takes down Kangana’s tweet over Rohit Sharmer’s comment on farmers protest

Xtra Time Web Desk: Twitter India on Thursday took down a tweet by Bollywood celebrity Kangana Ranaut for making a derogatory tweet quoting India cricketer Rohit Sharma’s tweet about the ongoing farmers protest.

Rohit, who is the vice-captain of the India’s limited-overs cricket teams, was among the many cricketers, including skipper Virat Kohli, who tweeted their support to the statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.

Sharma wrote, “India has always been stronger when we all stand together and finding a solution is the need of the hour. Our farmers play an important role in our nation’s well-being and I am sure everyone will play their roles to find a solution TOGETHER. #IndiaTogether.”

The 33-year-old actress, who has been vocal about her support to the farm laws, then took a swipe at Rohit in reply to his tweet.

Soon after, Twitter removed her tweet for violating company rules. “We have taken action on tweets that were in violation of the Twitter rules in line with our range of enforcement options,” the microblogging website said in a statement.

Thousands of farmers, mostly from Punjab and Haryana, have been camping at several of Delhi’s border points since November last year, demanding that the government repeal the three farm laws and provide legal guarantee of MSP for their crops.
