XtraTime Web Dek: The exclusion of former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni from the T20I squad has surprised many ahead of the World Cup but another former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly didn’t look surprised with this decision of the selectors. “I am not surprised that MS Dhoni has been dropped from the T20 squad because his performance hasn’t been great. If you see the 2020 World T20, I don’t think Dhoni will play that far and that’s why the selectors have given chance to Rishabh Pant who is in a good form,” he told India TV.

Young left hand sensation Rishabh Pant has replaced the veteran in the T20I squad for Windies and Australia series. He wasn’t a part of the squad which toured England to play the limited overs series and made a comeback in the ODI squad in place of another senior wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik.

These matches will be important for both Pant and Karthik to do well for the side and cement their place in the side. Rishabh isn’t confirmed of a place in ODIs and T20Is as he was dropped from the playing XI for the fourth ODI of the series against West Indies on Monday. He, though, is the first-choice wicket-batsman for India in the longest format of the game for now.
