Xtra Time Web Desk : South Africa on Friday sealed a memorable Test series victory against Team India in Cape Town as they won the 3rd Test by 7 wickets to claim the 3 match series by a margin of 2-1. And Team India’s Test skipper Virat Kohli after the match came out to put forward his opinions on the series loss to South Africa.

And in the post match press conference, the 33 year old slammed India’s batting failures and said, “The batting has to be looked into, no running away from that. Having collapses every now and then not a good thing. No excuses there. It’s really disappointing for sure. We know how far we’ve come as a team. That people expect us to beat South Africa in South Africa is testimony to how far we’ve come. We haven’t done it, that’s the reality, accept it and come back as better cricketers,”

The Indian skipper also gave credit to his opponents for the manner in which they staged the turnaround after losing the first Test at Centurion.

Praising the Proteas, the 99 Test cap holder added, “We had a great first game but South Africa did amazingly well. In both Tests they won, they were clinical with the ball in crunch moments. Lapse of concentration cost us key moments and they seized those moments; South Africa were absolutely deserving winners in the end,”

Also after the series loss, the Delhi batter attended the post match press conference only to defend his team’s verbal attack on the broadcasters after Dean Elgar’s contentious DRS was over turned, saying that people on the outside don’t understand what goes inside a cricket field.

Opening up about the ‘DRS controversy’ in the post match press conference, Virat said, “I have no comment to make on either. We understood what happened on the field and people on the outside don’t know exact details of what goes on on the field….for me to try and justify what we did on the field and say we got carried away is all…,”

“That one moment seems very nice and very exciting to make a controversy out of, which honestly, I am not interested in making…It was just a moment that passed and we moved on from it. And we just kept focussing on the game and tried to pick up wickets,” he added.
