Acknowledging the overwhelming support from the gallery’s West Block, Upper Tier, Lower Tier, North Stand, and South Stand, Chhetri adds, “Special thanks to the Manjappada Mariners, North-East Brigade, East Bengal Ultras, and several others. There are many more, and I might not be able to recall everyone at this moment, but you all have come together to support us.”

Speaking about his achievement as the top scorer for the team, Chhetri reveals, “Let me share a little secret with you, the matches against Lebanon and Kuwait were not easy. These matches were challenging for us. Throughout the year, we have played from Manipur to Odisha and now Bengaluru. Wherever we played, we received immense support from the fans.”

Chhetri’s goal in the international match at Bengaluru adds to his tally of 92 goals for the Indian national team jersey. This places him among the all-time leading international goal scorers alongside Argentina’s FIFA World Cup-winning Lionel Messi and Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo. Additionally, Sunil Chhetri extends his appreciation to Indian supporters after securing the SAFF Championship victory.
