Shubman Gill looks set to return for marquee clash against Pakistan in Ahmedabad | INDvsPAK

Xtra Time Web Desk: Star India batter Shubman Gill was the cynosure of all eyes as he trained with the Indian team at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday. The 24-year-old Gill looks all set to return for the ICC World Cup 2023 game against Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday.

Shubman looked in his element during the training session. He was seen doing some sprints under the watchful eyes of physical trainer Sohom Desai. The Gujarat Titans batter was next involved in a game of foot volley along with his teammates. He looked jovial and seemed to enjoy the fun training session.

Soon after taking part in the game of foot volley, Shubman walked straight towards the practice nets area along with Virat Kohli. He along with Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja batted first in the nets.

Once Jadeja and Shami wrapped up their net sessions, all eyes turned to Shubman Gill, who had been the center of attention, especially after captain Rohit Sharma announced that he is “99 per cent available for the game against Pakistan”. As he stepped into the nets, three net bowlers joined Mohammed Shami to challenge Gill. This group of bowlers included one left-arm pacer, one left-arm orthodox spinner, and one right-arm off-spinner. The initial moments in the nets saw Gill facing a challenging left-arm orthodox spinner who managed to beat him with the very first delivery. However, with every passing ball, Gill’s timing and confidence improved.

Gill batted for almost 20 minutes before taking a drinks break. He then walked into the other nets to take some throw-downs from Nuwan, Raghu, Dayanand and batting coach Vikram Rathour.

The batter from Punjab was seen seating and relaxing for a few minutes after which he again walked back to other nets to face two left arm spinners.

In total, Gill spent approximately an hour in the nets ahead of the crucial game against Pakistan. As Indian captain Rohit Sharma suggested in his pre match conference that Gill is 99 percent fit. But after watching him train, he looks all set to return to the playing XI at the expense of Ishan Kishan.
