Internet Desk: India’s star opener Shikhar Dhawan has already started his preparations for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy in England. Dhawan posted a picture on his Instagram account saying, “Off to gym guys..starting preparing for champions trophy now!!”
Dhawan has been included in the squad which will travel to England for the Champions Trophy june. He has gone through some poor form in the past couple of years and was out from the team for quite some time. But the Delhi boy has showed some brilliant form, where he was making a comeback from a long injury.
Dhawan was just behind his Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper in terms of runs scored in IPL season 10. He played 14 matches for his side in this season’s Indian Premier League where he scored 479 runs with an average of 36.84. His highest score was 77. After overtaking Kolkata Knight Riders Captain Gautam Gambhir, he is holding the third spot in the Orange Cap category.
Many critics had criticized Dhawan’s inclusion in their team as they thought that Gambhir should have get the chance as an opener for the Champions Trophy. But Dhawan was abit ahead of him as he was India’s star performer in 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. He and his opening partner Rohit Sharma played some brilliant knocks in 2013 which helped India to win the prestigious trophy.
