Internet Desk: Indian cricket team’s newly appointed head coach Ravi Shastri has already told the media that he would like to work with both Rahul Dravid and Zaheer Khan as consultants during the overseas tours. But on the other hand as per the sources inside the board, Shastri has also told the BCCI officials that it would be great if the team gets master blaster Sachin Tendulkar as their consultant for the overseas tour. Co-incidentally Sachin is a member of Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) alongside Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman who picked Shastri as Indian cricket team’s head coach. They had also recommended Dravid and Zaheer as batting and bowling consultants of the side.

According to reports of The India Express, Shastri is eager to rope in Tendulkar as the team’s consultant during the overseas tours. Now if Sachin wants to join the Indian cricket team as a consultant, he has to step down from his post from CAC as well as the post of IPL side Mumbai Indians consultant.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Shastri had said: “I’ve spoken to both (Dravid and Zaheer), as recent as three to four days ago and they are two fantastic cricketers of India. Their inputs will be invaluable. They will be on board once they have spoken to the authorities concerned.”

Earlier Shastri made it clear that while he is happy to have the services of former India stars like Dravid and Zaheer, he also wants full-time support staffs according to his choice.

“The BCCI can certainly bring in guys like Zaheer and Dravid as consultants from time to time. Their experience is invaluable. But as far as a full-time support is concerned, I will need to decide on it because it is me who will be working with them for next two years,” he had clarified.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has agreed to pay Shastri Rs 7.5 crore which is Rs 1.25 crore more than his predecessor Anil Kumble.
