Shami was approached for trading by unfair means by a franchise official, says Gujarat Titans CEO | Report
Xtra Time Web Desk: The IPL 2024 auction has been hit with another bombshell as Gujarat Titans CEO, Colonel Arvinder Singh, disclosed that officials from another franchise had approached them to trade Indian pacer Mohammed Shami. Singh revealed that the approach was made to the coaching staff, bypassing the proper channels, and he emphasized that such tactics violate the fair business conduct specified by the IPL governing body, BCCI.
Singh, while speaking with News 18, confirmed the rumours of being approached for Shami's trade, expressing dissatisfaction with the method used. He asserted that the approach contradicted the rules set by the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) for IPL trading. Although the CEO did not disclose the identity of the franchise involved, he emphasized that had the proper channels been followed, they would have engaged in discussions with the interested party.
In addition to the Shami trade saga, Singh commented on the departure of Hardik Pandya from the franchise. He conveyed the Gujarat Titans' respect for Pandya's decision, acknowledging that he will always be held in high regard by the team. The unfolding events add an element of controversy and intrigue to the lead-up to the IPL 2024 auction.
