The incident occurred in the 10th over of India’s innings when Samson, in scintillating form, slog-swept Tristan Stubbs for a massive six over deep mid-wicket. The ball, however, hit the woman directly on her face, leaving her visibly distressed. She was immediately provided an ice pack by fellow spectators to soothe the injury. Samson, upon realizing the incident, appeared deeply apologetic, raising his hand in regret. The moment, captured on camera, has since gone viral on social media.

Samson’s knock of 109 not out off 56 balls, studded with nine sixes, was part of a record-breaking partnership with Tilak Varma, who smashed an unbeaten 120 off just 47 deliveries. The duo’s 210-run stand for the second wicket powered India to a staggering 283/1, their highest T20I total on foreign soil.
In South Africa's reply, Arshdeep Singh’s exceptional spell under the lights dismantled the top order, reducing the hosts to 10/4. Arshdeep finished with figures of 3/20, as South Africa were bowled out for 148 in 18.2 overs, handing India a dominant 135-run victory and a 3-1 series win.
The match saw multiple records fall, with Samson and Varma becoming the first Indian duo to score centuries in the same T20I innings. Samson completed his ton in 51 balls, while Varma reached the milestone in just 41 balls, the fastest of the match. This marked Samson’s third T20I century in his last five innings, an extraordinary run that also included two ducks.
