Kolkata: Bengal got a huge boost ahead of its Ranji Trophy campaign against Services which starts from October 06 at the Palam Air Force Ground in Delhi. Indian speedster Mohammed Shami, who was part of the Indian ODI team will be available for his state side since he was not picked for the three-match T20 series against England.

Shami will replace Sreevats Goswami since the wicket keeper batsman was picked for the India A one dayers against New Zealand. India glovesman Wriddhiman Saha will keep wickets for Bengal in the absence of Sreevats.

“Since Shami has not played much cricket during the past three weeks save the lone ODI, he is fit and fresh. He is a certainty for the New Zealand ODIs but a couple of Ranji games will certainly give some much required game time,” a BCCI official privy to selection matters was quoted by an agency.

With the likes of Ashoke Dinda and Mohammed Shami, Bengal’s fast bowling department looks potent. Shami is expected to join Bengal practice on Wednesday.
