Shakib al Hasan returns to training a day after winning Parliamentary seat

Xtra Time Web Desk: Bangladesh cricket captain Shakib al Hasan, fresh from securing a parliamentary seat with a landslide victory, wasted no time in returning to training with his Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) team, Rangpur Riders on Monday. Despite his political success, Shakib displayed his dedication to the sport by hitting the nets at the Sher e Bangla stadium, where he was warmly welcomed by the ground staff.

This season, Shakib has made a switch to the Rangpur Riders, after representing Fortune Barishal in the previous edition of the BPL. Leading a formidable Rangpur Riders lineup, where he will be joined by top overseas players such as Nicholas Pooran, Babar Azam, Wanindu Hasaranga, Metheesha Pathirana, and Brandon King.

Interestingly, Shakib opted out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the 2024 season, choosing instead to focus on domestic cricket. The charismatic all-rounder, known for his exceptional skills, engaged in an intense training session that included sprints and an hour-long net practice at the Sher e Bangla stadium.

The upcoming Bangladesh Premier League is scheduled to commence on January 19, promising cricket enthusiasts an exciting display of talent and competition. As Shakib al Hasan leads Rangpur Riders, anticipation is high for his on-field performances in this season of the BPL.
