Xtra Time Web Desk: Rajasthan Royals’ players will be donning a special customised playing kit made to honour and celebrate Shane Warne. The Royals will be wearing the kit for Saturday’s IPL 2022 match against Mumbai Indians at DY Patil stadium. A special hashtag #ForWarnie has been created to celebrate the legendary Australian spinner who guided the franchise to its maiden IPL title in the inaugural season in 2008. It was at the DY Patil Stadium when Rajasthan Royals lifted its maiden IPL trophy on 30th April 2022.
The Rajasthan Royals playing squad will be sporting the special initials “SW23” on the leading collar of their official playing kits – paying tribute to the legend and carrying his presence with them throughout the match.
Shane Warne’s brother Jason, will be flying down to Mumbai to join in the celebrations. The Royals have also invited the Batch of 2008 and are appreciative of everyone who has sent in their tributes for the greatest leg-spinner of all time.
As a mark of respect, among other dedicated tributes, a special area at the DY Patil Stadium has also been turned into a Shane Warne Tribute Gallery.
