At an early age of 10, Nishchay started his journey as a figure skater. During his childhood days his mother understood that Nishchay has a bright future in skating. She was looking for a coach for his son and suddenly a person named Vasudev Tandi. Tandi helped Nishchay to learn the basic things and later with his help Nishchay completed his graduation on ice-skating.

In the year 2011, Nishchay clinched gold in his first National Ice Skating Championship which was held in Shimla. He participated in the competition next year too in both singles and pairs event and won Gold in both the events. After that he began his practice in iSkate an indorr ice skating rink in Gurgaon. Nishchay won two Silver medals at the National Ice Skating Championship in singles and pair competitions. In the year 2014, he clinched 2 Gold medals too.

Nishchay represented the nation in World Development Trophy 2014 in Manilla, Phillippines and won a bronze medal for India. Due to the lack of infrastructure in India he went to the United States and trained hard for six months. He returned to India in December 2015 due to lack of funds. He bagged 2 gold medals in the National Ice Skating Championship which was held in 2016.

With the help of Rohit Sharma and many others there is a possibility that Nishchay will do well in the 2018 Winter Games and make the nation proud.
