Rio 2016: Sindhu advanced to quarterfinals, Vikas and Seema failed to advance

Internet Desk: Another good news for Indian shuttlers. After men’s singles shuttler Kidambi Srikanth women’s shuttler P V Sindhu also entered the quarterfinals of Rio Olympics.
Sindhu in her pre-quarterfinal match achieved an easy win. She won by 2-0 straight sets against Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei.
It was a much easy match for Sindhu. She took early 3-1 lead which gave her confidence to use her presence of mind. Every time she challenged the Chinese predicting her steps. Thus she won the two sets by 21-13 21-15.
In the quarterfinals Sindhu has to face Wang Yihan of China tonight. Yihan is the present world no.2 and also the defending Silver Medalist. So tonight it will be hard challenge for Sindhu.
However, there is a bad news from boxing arena. Hope for any Medal from boxing ended as Vikas Krishan lost in his quarterfinal match.
Yesterday he lost to Melikuziev Bektemir of Uzbekistan. Vikas lost to powerful punches of the Uzbek. In none of the three games he could score 30. On the other hand the opponent scored 30 in all his three games. Thus Vikas lost the match by 3-0.
In the first set he could resist to score 27. But in rest two sets he lost to score 26 and 26.
The other two boxers of India lost previously. Now the lose of Vikas ended the hope of any Medal from boxing thus time.

In athletics woman discuss thrower Seema Punia also failed to pass the qualifying round. The 33-year-old Seema began with 57.58m in her first attempt and then fouled here second try before hurling the disc to a distance of 56.78m to finish ninth in Group B qualification round and 20th overall.

Seema was way behind her personal best mark of 62.62m. The final round qualifying mark was set at 62m or the best 12 performers. If Seema could reach upto her best performance she had a chance to reach the finals.
