Revealed: The real reason behind Kohli-Rohit rift

XtraTime Web Desk: As the Indian cricket team is set to go for the Windies tour, there are news circulating about a rift between skipper Virat Kohli and his deputy Rohit Sharma. Both the senior cricketers are not believed to be on the same boat. With the rumours about split-captaincy, it has only added more spice to the controversy. Although the selectors has blown away the rumour by keeping Virat as the captain in all three formats, but difference of opinion between the two still exists.

India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun recently in an interview said, “It’s not that we agree on everything. We have our arguments and discussions on various aspects like the composition of the team and the strategy. Everyone voices his opinion. But at the end of the day, the other person’s view is respected and a collective decision is taken.”

According to an insider in BCCI this is a long going tussle between the two – Kohli & Rohit. Cornerstone, the management company which once managed both Virat and Rohit was owned by Ritika Sajdeh (Rohit Sharma’s wife) & Bunty Sajdeh (Ritika’s Cousin Brother). After Rohit got engaged with Ritika, both parted ways with Cornerstone.

Rohit is managed these days by IMG Reliance and Ritika is his manager. The rift has taken a new high after Rohit started to get big runs in last couple of years. During the last England tour there was news that Anushka Sharma & Dhawan’s wife Ayesha had some arguments. On the flip side Dhawan’s family and Rohit’s family has been close to each other for a long time. Both Ritika and Ayesha prefer keeping a distance publicly with Anushka since that incident. During the recent World Cup group league match between India and Sri Lanka at Leeds, Anushka did not bother to stand up to cheer Rohit’s hundred.

Things have gone so worse that the two management companies are slinging mud at each other, trying to leak stories in media. It is high time that the Board takes a note of the situation and handles the issue wisely, as both the batsmen have a lot to deliver for Indian cricket ahead.
