Xtra Time Web Desk: India cricketer Prithvi Shaw has revealed how a session with batting legend Sachin Tendulkar has helped him sort out the technical issues that was affecting his batting. Prithvi who was dropped after just one test match in the tour to Australia, has been in tremendous form in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. The youngster has amassed 754 runs in just 7 matches at an average of 188.50. He is now the highest scorer in the tournament in a single season, getting past the record of Mayank Agarwal.

Shaw recently opened up about his struggles with the bat and how he talked to Sachin Tendulkar after the Australia tour.

According to Shaw, “My mind was messed up. My bat was coming down from the gully area, but that’s how I have scored runs all my life. The problem was the way I was getting out and I had to fix it immediately. My back lift was the same but my bat was coming down slightly away from my body. There was an issue with the initial movement. I was in a fixed position. I needed to keep my bat closer to my body, which I wasn’t doing.”

Shaw also revealed that he sought the help of former India cricketer Praveen Amre on returning from Australia. He spent a few days training under Amre to get his technical flaws sorted. The results are reflected on his batting in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as he has led by example, guiding Mumbai to the final of the tournament.
