Rahim Nabi Joins Politics

Kolkata: After Prasun Banerjee, Bhaichung Bhutia, Dipendu Biswas  Rahim Nabi is the next footballer to join ruling party Trinamool Congress (TMC). Rumours were going for a long time that Nabi could join politics and at last it has become true. Nabi, the most utility footballer India have ever produced have played for three big clubs of Kolkata East Bengal, Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting. Nabi recently had a stint with Atletico De Kolkata in the ISL 2 while he was the captain of Mumbai FC in the first edition of the ISL. Nabi was also a regular member of the Indian National team from 2004-2013.

Nabi was handed over the party flag by Trinamool secretary general Partha Chatterjee in the presence of the party’s Lok Sabha member Abhishek Banerjee, who is Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew.

Known for his versatility on the field, Nabi has essayed the roles of a defender, midfielder as well as a striker. He said he is joining politics for public welfare.
