Xtra Time Web Desk: Delhi Capitals’ David Warner looked to be in for a big score but Chennai Super Kings managed to get the breakthrough with a stunning catch by Matheesha Pathirana to give the visitors a much-needed wicket.
Opening the batting, the pair of David Warner and Prithvi Shaw were off to a flying start as the two managed to score 62 runs within the batting powerplay to give the home side a good start in Vizag.
Despite the end of the powerplay, the openers did not look to take their foot off the pedal as they continued to find the boundary at regular intervals and keep up the scoring rate.

But it was their leading wicket-taker in the season, Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman who delivered the breakthrough. He kept the delivery at length which Warner looked to play the reverse-ramp shot past the third-man fielder.
Pathirana managed to put in an immense dive as the catch was successful and luckily the ball stuck in his hands to give CSK the crucial breakthrough to turn the tides in their favour.

Warner perished after scoring 52 off 35 deliveries and giving the home side the big start they needed once again. To support him, he had Prithvi Shaw who also supported him with boundaries but he also was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja who got the opener to shift the momentum in CSK’s favour.
The Capitals will look to get their first points of the season as they aim to break CSK’s winning streak and hand them their first loss of the season. They have picked up two losses on the bounce to start off the 2024 season on a poor note. They will have the additional challenge of not having the services of Kuldeep Yadav who missed out due to a niggle.
