Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India wicket keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik was a certainty in the white ball format not so long ago. The Kolkata Knight Riders cricketer was the second keeper batsman in the Indian side after MS Dhoni in the shorter format. But Indian cricket has saw a sea change in last couple of years post the 2019 World Cup. Dhoni has retired from international cricket. Although Dinesh Karthik has not retired from any formats, but the Tamil Nadu cricketer has failed to find favours in the team because of the rise of an individual.

Rishabh Pant is one such cricketer who has made the most of the opportunity he got in recent times. It is because of Pant, it seems unlikely and difficult for Karthik to find a position in the Indian team. Not to mention that he is not on the right side of age.

In a recent interview with Times of India, Karthik opened up on a list of things including Rishabh Pant’s role in the team. Praising his counterpart, Karthik reckoned that he has a similar impact on the opponents as Virender Sehwag or Adam Gilchrist used to have.

Speaking about Wriddhiman Saha, he said, “According to me, Saha is the best wicketkeeper in the world. The way Saha is, he will always be ready to help him out…And I know for a fact even Parthiv Patel helped him out when he was in Australia,”
