Kolkata: Bengal middle-order batsman Pankaj Shaw made it truly a Merry Christmas amassing a record 413 not out against Dakshin kalikata Sangsad in the three-day Cricket Association of Bengal First Division tournament on Sunday.

“I didn’t know that I have created this new record. The scorer told me about this during the break. I am very happy about my achievement but I have to play like this for the rest of the season. I had a bad season in Ranji Trophy this year but I am sure that this innings will boost my confidence to do well for Bengal in Vijay Hazare Trophy & Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.”  Pankaj said.

When asked about his idol Pankaj replied, ”My inspiration is always God of Cricket Sachin Tendulkar.”

Pankaj shared an interesting story about his idol Sachin Tendulkar to xtratime.in.

The Bengal batsman told, “ A very few persons know I had shared dressing room with the great Sachin Tendulkar during the India vs England Test series at Eden Gardens in 2012, which India lost 2-1. I played as a 12th man for India in that test. During those days at Eden Gardens, Sachin used to get knocking practice from me. As a junior I was a bit shy to go infront of a player like his caliber but Sachin was very friendly with me. Once he asked me if I want a knocking practice with him. That was like a dream come true for me & I won’t forget those days for the rest of my life.

Shaw was a part of Eastern Railway for last few years. Eastern Railway became champions in CAB first division league last year because of him. He signed for CAB president Sourav Ganguly’s club Barisha Sporting in this season.

Yesterday Debabrata Das played a fine knock of 315 runs, as Mohun Bagan reached 621 for 8 against Bhukailash Sporting.
