Commonwealth Games 2026: India's Srihari Nataraj qualifies for the semi-finals of 50m backstroke

India's Srihari Nataraj qualified for the semi-finals of the men's 50m backstroke at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Friday.

The 25-year-old finished fifth in his heat with a time of 25.52, but finished 14th overall in the five heats to advance to the next stage.

England's Oliver Morgan won Nataraj's Heat 4 with a time of 24.91. South African Peter Coetzee finished fastest after the first round with a Games record time of 24.45.

The semi-finals will be held tonight at 12.29pm IST. Previously, the R.V.V.B.K. Budigina and Imam Ali qualified for the final of the men's 100m freestyle S13, placing third and eighth respectively in the heats.

Budigina finished the race with a time of 57.10 while his compatriot Ali recorded a time of 1:05.32. Scotland's Stephen Clegg took first place with a time of 56.57. All eight participants in the preliminary round qualified for the final.

The final of the Freestyle S13 event will take place on June 24 at midnight.
