Ahead of the much-awaited Mega Derby, East Bengal head coach Antonio Lopez Habas has sent out a clear message: emotions must be kept under control. According to the experienced Spanish coach, the battle will be decided by tactical discipline and mental strength.

That is Habas, as always. Even before stepping into a final, he has shown the same attitude and mindset that have defined his career. He made it clear that his motivation has remained unchanged since day one — he simply does not want to lose.

Habas also acknowledged that Mohun Bagan were in a better position during the previous derby. However, he believes the situation is different this time around.

Several foreign players have yet to arrive, but the East Bengal coach has refused to make excuses. He made it clear that neither the heat nor the weather nor refereeing decisions will be used as an excuse.

Habas is also not focusing on just one or two Mohun Bagan players. His attention is firmly fixed on the entire team and the challenge they pose collectively.

The East Bengal coach has promised to give 100 percent to help his team win and to honour the emotions and expectations of the supporters.

He also admitted that Mohun Bagan goalkeeper Vishal Kaith is an excellent player. However, Habas was quick to remind everyone that his own goalkeepers, Gill and Lachenpa, are no less capable.

With the Mega Derby approaching, Habas appears to have entered full war mode — calm, tactical and mentally prepared for one of Indian football's biggest battles.
