This is India's fifth medal in weightlifting at the Games so far. Earlier, Mirabai Chanu, Rishikanta Singh, Muthupandi Raja, and Gyaneshwari Yadav had all secured medals in their respective events.

In the snatch event, Bindyarani Devi lifted 87kg, finishing in third place, while competitors from Nigeria and Canada claimed the first and second positions, respectively.

In the clean and jerk, the Indian weightlifter successfully lifted 112kg, but was unable to improve on her third-place standing.
