Ali Qamar, in Public Letter, Lambasts Boxing Federation Officials on Their Lack of Transparency

Xtra Time Newsdesk: In a major development that could potentially shake domestic boxing administration, former India coach and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Ali Qamar recently presented a public letter highlighting the lack of transparency in the decision making process of the Boxing Federation.
He raised severe concerns over governance, constitutional violations, and arbitrary decision-making within the boxing association. The decorated boxer severely criticised the management for bypassing the procedure and making decisions bypassing the Executive (EC). He has demanded a freeze on all decisions until a meeting is called to discuss these problems.
Qamar said that the breakdown in procedure took place when the Secretary of the Federation resigned without informing the Committee. He also stated that the President 's trip to the US and the immediate reinstatement of the Secretary was also executed by bypassing the Committee. He said,
"I sincerely believe that such important decisions concerning the functioning of our association should be taken through a transparent and proper process".
He wrote that these events were a deflection from a protest against a specific issue which has left everyone questioning whether these demands will be heard or not.
"Our protest was specifically against one individual, but instead of addressing the actual issue, the Secretary resigned... This situation has left me deeply concerned. Our fight is not for any individual position—it is for the dignity, transparency, unity, and future of boxing and our boxers."
He insisted that the sport should be bigger than any individual, hence an EC meeting should be convened immediately to discuss these concerns. He wrote that no decision can be taken unless the EC discusses and approves of it.
At the end of the day, the former boxer wants a system that benefits and develops boxers and not one that enriches self interested individuals. For that, a transparent system is required so that the administration can be held accountable. Without transparency, there is no developing boxing in this country.
