One who is hailing me today was abusing me few months back: KL Rahul

Xtra Time Web Desk: KL Rahul’s remarkable century against South Africa at SuperSport Park, Centurion, in the ongoing Boxing Day Test served as a resounding reply to his critics. Facing a barrage of criticism after losing his place in India’s Test XI, Rahul, now entrusted with the dual role of wicketkeeper-batter, demonstrated resilience on a challenging pitch. Scoring a sensible 101 runs, he played a pivotal role in India’s competitive first-innings total of 245. In response to questions about dealing with trolls, Rahul emphasized his commitment to letting his bat do the talking, opting for on-field performances over verbal retorts against his detractors.

“It is difficult obviously. When you play international cricket, you are challenged each day, each moment. Social media is a pressure. Today I have scored a hundred so people are singing praises. Three-four months ago, everybody was abusing me,” Rahul said in the post day’s play press conference.

He added, “It does affect each person. And anyone who says that doesn’t affect them at all, I’m sure is lying. The sooner you realize that staying away from it is good for your game and your mindset, the better it is,”

Reflecting on his personal journey during an injury break, Rahul highlighted the importance of self-improvement. “I worked on remaining calmer, and taking care of my head. And what happens inside as well.”
