Olympic medalist Wrestler Ravi Dahiya’s Asian Games hopes dashed by Maharashtra’s Atish Tolakar

Xtra Time Web Desk: In the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Indian wrestler Ravi Dahiya, who won a silver medal, will not be able to participate in this year’s Asian Games. Despite not suffering any injuries, Ravi could not secure qualification during the trials.

On Sunday, at the IG Stadium, Ravi Dahiya faced defeat in the 57kg trials against Maharashtra’s unknown wrestler, Atish Tolakar. Not only did Ravu lose the match, but he also lost by pinfall to the unknown wrestler.

According to experts, gaining two points against Ravi Dahiya is a tough task, and pinning him down is almost impossible. In this situation, Atish was leading 20-8 at one stage, and then he managed to pin Ravi’s shoulders to the mat, winning by a ‘By Fall’.

Throughout the match, Atish was skillfully dodging Ravi’s moves. He used his quick pace and intelligence to outmaneuver Ravi, taking advantage and scoring points.

Although Ravi couldn’t play this year due to serious ACL & MCL injuries on his right knee, it doesn’t diminish Atish’s victory from Maharashtra in any way.
