Internet Desk: A conflict of interest has been created after star opener Gautam Gambhir’s name was included as a Government nominee in the Delhi and District Cricket Association’s (DDCA) Managing Committee. Gambhir took to twitter to thank the sports minister Rajyavardhan Rathore before announcing that he has been nominated in the managing committee of DDCA. The conflict of interest has risen as per Lodha Committee only a retired player can be a part of the policy making but as of now Gambhir is an active first-class cricketer.

The administrator of DDCA appointed by the Delhi High Court Justice (Retd) Vikramajit Sen claimed that he was unaware of the situation.

“I have not received any notification from the government about Gautam Gambhir’s appointment. I am not aware about any managing committee. I will be writing to the sports ministry to seek more details,” Justice Sen told PTI today.

“Also, he is an active cricketer, so I am not sure if Lodha Committee reforms will allow him to take up administrative post,” he said.

It is also learned that no such managing committee exists as of now in DDCA since the time court-appointed administrator took over. No one knows who all are a part of the committee.

A close friend of Gambhir said that if the conflict of interest issue arises then he will not take up the post. “Gautam has no plans to retire and will be playing active cricket. If there is a conflict of interest issue, he will not take up the post,” he said
