XtraTime Web Desk – After a solid display of football for 120 minutes, Mumbai City FC managed to beat FC Goa in the ISL semifinal to reach their first ISL final in history. Phurba replaced Amrinder Singh before the penalty shoot out and the boy has been the star for Mumbai City.

Just like the match, the penalty shootout had a lot of drama. Just like Mumbai, Goa also changed their keeper in the dying minutes as Naveen Kumar replaced Dheeraj Singh. A total of 9 players took the penalty to come to an outcome.

Edu Bedia took the first shot but Phurba saved it while Ogbeche took the first shot and converted from the spot. Goa missed their second chance also as Brendon’s shot hit the post. This time Mumbai missed to take a further lead as Santana failed to convert. Adnan Hugo also missed to convert for Mumbai and things were in level terms.

Donachie failed to convert the fifth penalty for Goa and it was a great opportunity for Mumbai to win it but Naveen made a brilliant save to stop Jahouh. After round five, Glen Martins failed to convert in the ninth round while Rowliin Borges scored and won it for Mumbai City FC.

Both the goalkeepers were in superb form in the penalties. Anyone could have won it for his team. A lot of credit goes to both the managers for their courage to change their first team goalkeeper, which doesn’t happen a lot in the Indian football circuit.

Both the teams created some great chances till 120 minutes. Dheeraj and Amrinder rescued their team in many occasions else the tie would’ve been over way before the penalties. The match ended after both the teams were locked on 2-2 after two legs of football. The second leg ended 0-0 after 120 minutes.

Mumbai City FC will now face the winner of the match between ATK Mohun Bagan and NorthEast United.
