MS Dhoni to play against RCB despite knee injury | IPL 2023

Xtra Time Web Desk: In what comes as a huge relief for MS Dhoni fans, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) management has expressed confidence that the talisman will continue to play in the IPL 2023, despite nursing a knee injury that has restricted his movements. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed that Dhoni has not indicated otherwise and will play despite the injury. Coach Stephen Fleming had revealed the injury after CSK’s home match against Rajasthan Royals, stating that it was hindering Dhoni’s movements but praising his professionalism and dedication to fitness.

Dhoni, who has retired from international cricket, has a reputation for playing through injuries and has often played for CSK even when not at 100% fitness. He was recently felicitated by the franchise for leading the side for the 200th time. On the other hand, England all-rounder and Test captain Ben Stokes is expected to miss at least three more games for CSK due to a left toe injury sustained while bowling.

CSK currently has two wins and two losses in IPL 2023 and is scheduled to play an away game against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 17. Despite Dhoni’s injury, the franchise management remains optimistic about his availability and leadership on the field.
