Kolkata: Mohammedan Sporting Club has started to bolster their squad after they signed Nigerian defender Somtochukwu Richard Agwu. The addition of this defender would be a huge addition for his side after he has been in some brilliant form of lately.

After signing for Mohammedan Sporting Club, in an exclusive chat with xtratime.in Richard said, “I played for the 2nd division I-League for Southern Samity and it has not been a great experience for me. At the very beginning we thought we would do well but in the later phase due to financial and other problems we couldn’t concentrate properly.

I still firmly believe we could have done a lot better than what we did. We had a good team but and hence it is a disappointment for us’’

“But now I have signed for Mohammedan Sporting Club. They have a great team and I have studied about the history of the club and as a result I discussed with Belal Khan and ultimately decided to sign for the club” added the Nigerian.

Currently Richard have signed for the upcoming Calcutta Football League and the Nigerian have added that everything goes well in the league then he would think about extending his contract further.

“Both Dipendu Biswas and Biswajit Bhattacharya had expressed their desire to have me in their team and I think I can perform well in this team.

“After signing Dipanda we have showed that we can sign important players too. Richard is our second foreigner, who normally plays in the centre back position. We are currently looking for the third foreigner and we hope that in the upcoming tournament we shock our two city rivals” said Mohammedan Sporting Club official Belal Khan.

“He was signed on my consent. He is indeed a very good player. He is also a responsible defender and he has played brilliantly with Southern Samity” said newly appointed Mohammedan coach, Biswajit Bhattacharya.

Mohammedan Sporting Club scheduled to start their practice sessions from 19th of June.
