Mohammed Shami undergoes successful heel surgery in London

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who has been sidelined from competitive cricket since the World Cup in November, recently underwent surgery in London to address persistent issues with his Achilles tendon. Shami shared the update on his social media platforms, expressing optimism about returning to the field after a period of recovery.

The surgery, which targeted the problematic Achilles tendon, was deemed necessary after Shami sought expert advice in London, following a recommendation from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The talented bowler acknowledged that the recovery process would take some time but conveyed his eagerness to resume his cricketing journey.

Shami’s absence was notable in various cricketing events, including the full-fledged tour of South Africa, the home T20I series against Afghanistan, and the ongoing five-Test series against England. Unfortunately, it has now been confirmed that he will miss the entirety of the Indian Premier League (IPL), and his participation in the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup in June remains uncertain.

In his social media post, Shami shared a picture of himself and expressed his anticipation of getting back on his feet.
