Internet Desk: Newly appointed coach of Argentina football team got congratulation form the best player of his country. Today Diego Maradona wrote his congratulation message in a social media addressing Edgardo Bauza as ‘Paton’.
“I want to congratulate ‘Paton’ (‘Big Footed’) Bauza, new coach of Argentina. I’ll never forget that he was the player 24, of 23 in Italia ’90. And he stayed to support the team throughout the WC,” wrote Maradona on his Facebook account.
The football legend also added, “We were a generation which gave everything for the national team. And he sat on the bench throughout the entire World Cup”.
At the Mexican World Cup in 1986 Maradona’s Argentina edged Franz Beckenbauer’s West Germany 3-2 in the final in front of a sellout 115 000 crowd at the Aztec Stadium. Four years later in Italy the Germans took their revenge with a narrow win over Maradona’s depleted side with Bauza on the bench as Germany won 1-0 with a late penalty.
