Kolkata: Manchester United ambassador Dwight Yorke along with former United players Quinton Fortune and Bojan Djordjic, will attend the live screening of the Premier League match between the Red Devils and Tottenham Hotspur at the East Bengal Club on December 11.

This is the third time that such a fan party is being organized by the Premier League club in India. Earlier United had successfully organized such events in Bangalore and Mumbai.

The third incarnation of #ILOVEUNITED India will take place on Sunday 11 December 2016, when United’s fans can enjoy a live screening of the highly-anticipated match against fellow title-hopefuls Tottenham Hotspur.

The screening of the Tottenham match will be the culmination of a weekend of activities in Kolkata, and East Bengal club will be involved in the festival of football.

Fans can look forward to a ‘legends 3v3’ match, in which the trio of former United players will take on three legends from the popular local team. Former East Bengal players like Tarun Dey, Tushar Rakshit, Alvito de Counha, Basudev Mondal, Avijit Mondal and Surya Bikash Chakraborty has been thought of representing the Kolkata club. Three footballers from the six shortlisted will take on the likes of Dwight Yorke, Quinton Fortune and Bojan Djordijic.

The contest will be a part of a special 3v3 tournament on a small-sided pitch overseen by Manchester United’s Soccer School coaches. The competition is open to all fans and the winners will win the trip of a lifetime to a Manchester United match at Old Trafford.

Confirming the news, Manchester United’s Group Managing Director, Richard Arnold said, “Each time we visit India our ties become stronger and our popularity is on full show. We are overwhelmed by the support of the 35 million followers we have in the country. By bringing #ILOVEUNITED to India for the third time in 12 months, we’re demonstrating our commitment to this fan base.

“We saw some unforgettable scenes in Bangalore and Mumbai, with both sets of fans cheering the team on to victory. We’ve no doubt this event will create a terrific atmosphere.”

The Bangalore event took place during United’s 1-0 victory over Liverpool in January 2016, and the following month fans in Mumbai saw United beat Arsenal 3-2.
