Howrah : Former cricketer Laxmi Ratan Shukla and Jagmohan Dalmia’s daughter Vaishali Dalmia today met Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee fuelling speculation of their joining the Trinamool Congress.
Shukla, who retired from cricket recently, said he had come for the chief minister’s blessing, but declined to comment further.
Vaishali Dalmia said it was courtesy visit and she had come to meet the chief minister for the first time after the death of her father Jagmohan Dalmia. “ I have always admired her ideology . She have been our family friend and well wisher . I can never forget the gesture she had shown when my father expired . If she wants me to join politics , I will definitely think over it .” commented Vaishali adding to the speculation .
For Laxmi though , it was a courtesy visit . ” It has got nothing to do with me joining politics . It was just a courtesy visit . She enquired about my retirement and lastly I took her blessings .”
