Xtra Time Web Desk: Neeraj Chopra has decided to withdraw from this Sunday, 7th July’s Paris Diamond League, citing an ongoing adductor niggle. According to ESPN, Chopra is currently focusing on training and strengthening his blocking leg to reduce the pressure on his groin.

"I need to strengthen my blocking leg when I throw because that's when my groin gets pulled. We're working on that to see how we can reduce the impact on the groin and control the pressure on it," Chopra explained. He also mentioned plans to consult various doctors after the Paris Games.

Chopra stressed the importance of prioritizing health over competition. "I could have competed in more events for sure and that was the plan. But I have realized that my health is paramount. Even if I feel the slightest discomfort, I've learned to pause for a bit," he stated.

The block phase in javelin is crucial, as it transfers the pace of the run-up from the hip to the throwing arm. Chopra, who achieved a top throw of 85.97m at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland, expressed that he now makes better decisions based on experience rather than obligations.

"Back then, if I had an entry in a competition, I would definitely go and compete no matter what. But now, with more experience, I am better placed to make correct decisions," he noted.

Chopra also aims to regain his runway speed, which he felt was lacking in Turku. "I was happy with my performance in Turku, but I felt there was more work to do. I was slow on the runway compared to my normal speed. I want that speed back and for that, I need proper confidence that I am fully fit," he added.
