Xtra Time Web Desk:The Indian cricket team is currently confined to their hotel in Barbados following the closure of the island's airport due to the intensification of Hurricane Beryl on June 20, Sunday. The team, who recently celebrated their T20 World Cup victory on June 29, faces the possibility of being stranded as Beryl is projected to make landfall by Monday morning.

On Sunday, Hurricane Beryl was upgraded to a Category 3 storm, bringing severe consequences to Barbados with maximum sustained winds reaching 210 km/h. Reports indicate that the hurricane, originating in the Atlantic, is about 570 km east-southeast of Barbados, prompting the closure of the Bridgetown airport by evening.

The Indian team had planned to depart via an Emirates flight from New York through Dubai. However, a BCCI source informed that they will now return home on a charter flight. The Indian contingent consists of approximately 70 members, including players, support staff, families, and officials.

“The team was supposed to leave from here (Bridgetown) to New York and then reach India via Dubai. But now the plan is to get a charter flight straight from here to Delhi. A meeting with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also being considered," a source said.
