Xtra Time Web Desk: Netherlands' forward Cody Gakpo netted his third goal of the European Championship, and Donyell Malen added two more late strikes as the Dutch triumphed over Romania 3-0 in a dynamic Round of 16 clash on Tuesday.

After facing severe criticism from media and fans for their defensive lapses in a 3-2 defeat to Austria in their final group game, the Netherlands displayed greater composure and control, securing their first Euro quarter-finals berth since 2008.

Dominating possession with nearly two-thirds of the ball and generating almost five times more chances than their opponents, the Dutch underlined their superiority. Virgil van Dijk hit the post with a header, and Gakpo had a second goal disallowed for offside.
