Xtra Time Web Desk: As the T20 World Cup 2024 is set to commence on June 1, with matches hosted in the West Indies and the United States of America, the high octane India-Pakistan showdown is taking all the highlight. Which is scheduled to take place in New York on June 9.

In a Shocking  development on incidents,  security concerns have loom large over the event, particularly regarding the India-Pakistan match. The Islamic State terrorist organisation IS has issued an ominous threat against the T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan to be held here next month and New York officials said on Wednesday, May 29 that they are heightening security.

The Islamic State terrorist organisation posted on a British chat site an image of the cricket stadium at Eisenhower Park in Nassau County with drones flying over it showing the date, “9/06/2024", the date of the India-Pakistan match.A screenshot of the post was broadcast on a news report by NBC New York TV. The channel reported that county leaders “say they’ve made the request to the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) to make Eisenhower Park a no-fly zone for drones".
New York officials downplayed the ISIS post as not a “credible threat", while at the same time asserting that they were monitoring the situation and increasing security measures and committing resources for any eventuality.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) has ramped up security measures at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium amid threats of a potential lone-wolf attack. Authorities are on high alert, implementing extensive precautions to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the match.

Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder acknowledged the potential 'Lone Wolf' threat but guaranteed the stadium as the safest place in Nassau County on June 9. Ryder emphasized meticulous planning for safety, labeling the event's security measures as the county's largest ever.

ICC has also reassured fans of comprehensive security during the T20 World Cup 2024, emphasizing a robust plan in place for the tournament across the Americas. A spokesperson highlighted the priority given to safety, with ongoing monitoring of global conditions to mitigate any risks.
