Xtra Time Web Desk: Cricketing icon Sachin Tendulkar is set to be honored with the C K Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award at the BCCI’s annual gala on Saturday. The 51-year-old, regarded as one of the greatest cricketers of all time, will be recognized for his immense contributions to Indian cricket.

A senior BCCI official confirmed the news, stating, "Yes, he will be the recipient of the C K Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award for the year 2024."

Tendulkar, who represented India in 664 international matches, holds the record for being the highest run-scorer in both Test and One Day Internationals (ODIs). He accumulated 15,921 runs in Test cricket and a staggering 18,426 runs in ODIs, cementing his legacy as one of the sport’s greatest batsmen.

His longevity in the game is unparalleled, as he played 200 Test matches and 463 ODIs, both records for the most appearances in these formats. However, despite his illustrious career, he featured in just one T20 International.

The award recognizes outstanding contributions to Indian cricket, and in 2023, the honor was presented to former India head coach Ravi Shastri and legendary wicketkeeper Farokh Engineer.
