Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India captained by Surya Kumar Yadav delivered an record breaking batting performance against South Africa in the fourth and final T20I at the Wanderers, Johannesburg on Friday.

Credit has to be given to Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma for their wonderful innings that boosted India to set a record breaking total of 283/1 in their allocated 20 overs. Varma scored 120 whereas Samson scored 109 to take the score beyond 280.

In this process, Team India broke multiple records and set few. By hitting 23 sixes during their innings, India claimed the joint third-highest number of sixes in a T20I innings. The duo established a 210-run partnership for the second wicket in 93 balls, marking the sixth-highest partnership for any wicket in T20Is and the highest for the second wicket.

India claimed the third fastest 200 runs mark by scoring 200 in 14.1 overs. This total stands as India's second-highest in T20Is after their 297 against Bangladesh earlier in 2024. Samson achieved his third T20I century of 2024 becoming the first player to score three T20I centuries in a calendar year.

Scoring his second T20I century, Varma joinnd an elite group including Samson, Gustav Mckeon, Rilee Rossouw, and Phil Salt as the fifth player to score consecutive T20I centuries.

It is the instance also where two players from full member nations scored century. Abhishek Sharma's 36 off 18 was also crucial in the record setting total.
