Xtra Time Web Desk: BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla has dismissed all rumours of a rift within the Indian cricket team dressing room. He also reports suggesting that Rohit Sharma insisted on continuing as the Test captain for the next World Test Championship cycle.

Earlier, a media report claimed that Rohit expressed a desire to retain his position as captain during a recent review meeting conducted by the BCCI despite Jasprit Bumrah's emergence as a favourable candidate for the next cycle of the World Test Championship.

Calling the report baseless, Shukla stated during an interaction with the media in New Delhi on Monday, January 13, "This is also wrong that Rohit has insisted on captaincy. He is the captain. Form or lack of form is part and parcel of the game. These are phases, nothing new. When he saw he was out of form, he dropped himself from the fifth Test,"

"It's a completely wrong statement. There is no rift between the chairman of the selection committee (Ajit Agarkar) and the coach, and no rift between the captain and the coach. This is all rubbish being spread by a section of the media," he added.
