Xtra Time Web Desk: It has been so long experts, coach and board have been vocal to make India players participate in domestic cricket when not on national duty. Now, India captain Rohit Sharma joined Mumbai's Ranji Trophy on Tuesday (January 14) for practice.

Having the Test series against Australia ended on January 3, Rohit has a free schedule till February 6 when India take on England in the first ODI. A video went viral featuring Rohit being arrived at the MCA-BKC ground in his blue car, took his kitbag out and went inside. Meanwhile, he was caught on camera batting with Ajinkya Rahane, which looked like a practice match.

Mumbai is all set to start their Ranji Trophy campaign on January 23. Although it is not clear whether Rohit will play Ranji Trophy or not but if he plays, it will be his first time since 2015. Rohit's last Ranji Trophy appearance was against Uttar Pradesh 10 years back. 

Mumbai will play Jammu and Kashmir at the MCA-BKC ground next having a significance of advancing to the knockouts. Ever since being the head coach of the side, Gautam Gambhir advocated the need to play domestic cricket for all top-level cricketers including the likes of Rohit and Virat Kohli. Meanwhile Rohit's appearance in the practice match holds a deep significance hinting to the need of the time.

All spotlight will be on him if he plays Ranji Trophy for Mumbai or not!
