OTD: Rohit Sharma's 264 vs Sri Lanka stands historic till day!
Xtra Time Web Desk: Back in 2014, on this day India's star batter and present captain Rohit Sharma smashed a brilliant 264 against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens, Kolkata which stands as the highest individual score till date.
Rohit's double hundred featured 33 boundaries and 9 sixes where he also surpassed Saeed Anwar and Charles Coventry’s record of 194. Although Rohit had scored 209 against Australia the previous year but fell short to go beyond Virender Sehwag's then-record 219 against the West Indies in 2011.

Rohit was given an early lifeline when he was dropped on 4 by Thisara Perera and Rohit took all the opportunities to utilise the chance. After scoring a straight hundred, the acceleration of his game was definitely something to cherish forever. Rohit brought up his double century in 151 balls in style.

The last 22 balls of his innings was the testament of his power as he struck nine boundaries and three sixes. Although being caught out on the final delivery, he scripted history with his brilliant 264. The celebration of fans and Team India in stadium was beyond description.
