Xtra Time Web Desk: Legendary Indian cricketer MS Dhoni made headlines as he stepped out with his wife, Sakshi, to cast his vote in Ranchi for the Jharkhand Assembly Elections on November 13. The former India captain, who has been enjoying a quiet retirement in his hometown since 2020, was spotted exercising his right to vote, greeted by loud cheers and a flurry of cameras. The video capturing the duo's arrival at the polling booth amid tight security quickly went viral, showcasing the immense love fans still hold for their 'Thala'.

Dhoni is set to play his 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) retained him under the 'uncapped player' category. This move allowed CSK to secure Dhoni for just INR 4 Crore, leveraging a rule that has been reintroduced by the IPL governing council for the upcoming season. According to the revised regulation, a capped Indian player who hasn’t played international cricket in the last five years and doesn’t have a BCCI Central Contract is classified as 'uncapped'. This rule, scrapped in 2021, has paved the way for Dhoni’s return to the beloved Chennai franchise for yet another season.

Alongside Dhoni, CSK retained key players including Ruturaj Gaikwad (INR 18 Crore), Matheesha Pathirana (INR 13 Crore), Shivam Dube (INR 12 Crore), and Ravindra Jadeja (INR 18 Crore).
