Xtra Time Web Desk: The Bengaluru pitch has become a nightmare for the Indian team. It was on this ground that Rohit Sharma and his team were bowled out for just 46 runs against New Zealand. Following that defeat, India also lost the series. On Wednesday, Bengal took on Karnataka in a Ranji Trophy match on this same ground. At the end of the day, Bengal scored 249/5, bolstered by Anustup Majumdar's century.

Karnataka won the toss and opted to bowl, looking to take advantage of the green pitch. Their pacer, Vasuki Koushik, quickly put Bengal under pressure by dismissing opener Shubham Dey and number three Sudip Gharami. However, opener Sudip Chatterjee and Anustup Majumdar then stabilized the innings, building a 100-run partnership. Although Sudip was dismissed for 55, captain Anustup went on to score a century, eventually getting out for 101. Shahbaz Ahmed remains unbeaten on 54. With their contributions, Bengal managed to post 249 runs on the first day.
