Xtra Time Web Desk: Kerala Blasters FC (KBFC) have stepped up with a humanitarian initiative titled 'Goal for Wayanad' in response to the devastating landslides in Kerala's Wayanad district. As part of this campaign, the club announced they will donate Rs 1 lakh to the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) for every goal scored by their players, including Jesus Jimenez Nunez, in the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) Season 11.

Additionally, KBFC contributed Rs 25 lakhs to support the families affected by the landslides, which claimed over 230 lives and left 700 families homeless in Chooralmala and Mundakkai. The contribution was presented to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan by club chairman Nimmagadda Prasad and CEO Shushen Vashishth on Tuesday.

The 'Goal for Wayanad' campaign has been embraced by Kerala's passionate football community. KBFC has a history of supporting the state in tough times. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they donated 10,000 N95 masks and 500,000 Hydroxychloroquine tablets to aid frontline workers.

Kerala Blasters co-owners had also previously donated Rs 1.25 crore to the CMDRF, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to social causes. As relief efforts continue in Wayanad, KBFC's initiative is expected to bring both awareness and financial support to the region.

Kerala Blasters FC are gearing up for a fresh start under new head coach Mikael Stahre, as they set their sights on ending their trophy drought this season. The Blasters will kick off their ISL 2024-25 campaign with consecutive home games against Punjab FC and East Bengal FC. Following these, Stahre's squad will head to Guwahati for their last September fixture against Durand Cup 2024 champions NorthEast United FC. In October, the Blasters will be on the road for two matches against Odisha FC and Mohammedan SC, before wrapping up the month with a high-stakes home clash against Bengaluru FC.
