ICC Champions Trophy 2025: 'Kohli delivers in crunch moments', Lalchand Rajput hails his impact
Xtra Time Web Desk: Former India cricketer and ex-Afghanistan head coach Lalchand Rajput hailed Virat Kohli’s match-winning century against Pakistan, calling it proof of his stature as a "big match player." Rajput praised Kohli’s composure under pressure, highlighting his crucial role in India's dominant six-wicket victory over their arch-rivals on February 23 at the Dubai International Stadium.
Kohli’s unbeaten 100 off 111 balls not only secured India's place in the Champions Trophy semi-finals but also silenced critics who had questioned his form leading up to the tournament. The former India captain had been under scrutiny due to inconsistent performances in Test cricket, but Rajput believes this century reaffirms his reputation as a player who thrives in high-pressure situations.

Speaking to PTI, Rajput expressed confidence in Kohli and backed India to lift the Champions Trophy, given their commanding performances so far.
"Virat played a fantastic innings and once again proved why he is called King Kohli. He thrives in big matches—his temperament and ability to deliver when it matters most set him apart," Rajput said.
He also lauded India’s aggressive approach in the tournament, emphasizing their intent to dominate every game.
"This Indian team looks ruthless. They don’t allow opponents a way back into the game. With the way they are playing, I believe they should win the Champions Trophy convincingly," he added.

India’s campaign has already featured two century-makers—Shubman Gill set the tone against Bangladesh, and Kohli rose to the occasion against Pakistan. Rajput further backed captain Rohit Sharma to join the list with a big knock soon.
"Virat got a hundred, all boxes are ticked. Now it's up to Rohit to get a big hundred," he remarked.
With India already securing a semi-final berth, their final group-stage match against New Zealand on March 2 will determine their standing. However, with two commanding wins and a formidable batting lineup, India has reinforced its status as a top contender for the Champions Trophy title.
