Xtra Time Web Desk: The Cricket Academy of Murshidabad District Sports Association was officially inaugurated by former BCCI president and Indian cricket legend Sourav Ganguly at Baharampur Stadium on Thursday. Alongside the academy, Ganguly also launched the bowling machine, marking a significant step for local cricket development.

The inauguration saw a large turnout, with academy members and cricket enthusiasts gathering to catch a glimpse of Ganguly, who famously led India to the 2003 ODI World Cup final. As the current ICC Men's Cricket Committee Chairman, Ganguly remains a prominent figure in the cricketing world.

Speaking about India’s upcoming Test series against New Zealand and subsequent tours of South Africa and Australia, Ganguly expressed confidence in the team's mix of youth and experience. “The team has newcomers as well as experienced ones. Good teams will be made with seniors and juniors. So the best team has to be made. Australia and South Africa will be a good and tough tour,” he stated.

When asked about India’s junior players, Ganguly responded positively, saying, “India has good players. India just won against Bangladesh. So India is a great team.”

India is set to embark on a four-match T20I series against South Africa in November, with matches scheduled in Durban, Gqeberha, Centurion, and Johannesburg. Following that, they will head to Australia for the highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy, beginning with the first Test in Perth on November 22. The series will include a Day-Night Test in Adelaide, as well as Tests in Brisbane, Melbourne (Boxing Day Test), and Sydney.

India, having won their last two Test series in Australia, will look to continue their dominant form Down Under.
