XtraTime Web Desk - The low scoring match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the eliminator of IPL 2020 was filled with thrill and excitement.
Batting first, Royal Challengers Bangalore lost their skipper very soon as Virat Kohli was dismissed on 6 runs. Unfortunately no one batsman other than AB De Villiers who scored 56 of 43 deliveries. Aaron Finch supported him with 32 runs of 30 balls. Other than this, only Md. Siraj could manage runs in double digit (10). Thus, with this poor batting performance, Royal Challengers Bangalore ended up scoring only 131 runs after 20 overs. Jason Holder was the main man behind RCB's crash. He took 3 important wickets of Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal and Shivam Dube. T. Natarajan picked up 2 wickets giving away 33 runs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad had a poor start as they lost the wicket of Shreevats Goswami pretty early. Goswami replaced Wriddhiman Saha as the later couldn't compete because of an injury. David Warner was then given out on 17 which is a controversial decision according to many in the social media. Kane Williamson and Jason Holder then built a partnership which led Sunrisers to the 2nd qualifier of this year's Indian Premier League. Kane Williamson scored an important half-century and Jason Holder scored 24 of 20 deliveries.
With this amazing and important half-century, Kane Williamson was chosen as the Man of the Match. In the post match conference, Kane said, “Look it was a tough game. It was never going to be easy against a class side like RCB. The surface was a little tricky and chasing anything on it wasn't easy”.
Speaking about his partnership with Jason Holder, Williamson said, “A few shots from Jason helped. The guys have been fighting hard. He is cooler than me. The all-rounder role in the team has been well held by him.”
Captain David Warner is very happy to have Kane Williamson in the SRH camp. He said, “Kane is our banker. He manages to stick in there and plays the pressure innings”.
Speaking about the match in the Qualifier 2 against Delhi Capitals, Warner said, “We obviously have Delhi to play. We have been talking about their world class bowling side. But I am excited.”
Speaking in the post match conference, the losing captain Virat Kohli said, “If you talk about the first innings I don't think we had enough runs on the board. We made one helluva game in the second half, the positions we got ourselves into in the second half..”
RCB now lost 4 of their last matches in this year's IPL. Speaking about that, Kohli said, “In the last 2-3 games we have hit it straight to the fielders, lot of good shots going to the fielders. It has been a strange kind of phase in the last 4-5 games”.
