Xtra Time Web Desk: The ongoing discussions among the International Cricket Council (ICC), Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the Champions Trophy deadlock appear far from resolution. Despite initial optimism surrounding PCB’s acceptance of a hybrid model—where India’s matches would be held in Dubai—the proposal hit a snag after BCCI rejected the conditions tied to it.

As per reports, the PCB suggested applying the hybrid model to ICC events hosted by India in the future, but the BCCI dismissed the demand, citing no security concerns in India. “The BCCI has sent a clear message to the ICC brass in this regard leading to a fresh impasse. The BCCI's contention is simple—there is no security threat in India and hence no question of accepting such an arrangement,” stated a report in The Telegraph India.

The PCB risks losing hosting rights for the 2025 Champions Trophy if it maintains its stance. Earlier, it had reportedly threatened to withdraw from the tournament if the ICC decided to shift the venue.
